Ten Common Problems and Solutions in Laser Cutting carbon steel Plate Part (1)



Laser cutting of carbon steel plate belongs to thermal cutting. Under normal cutting conditions, the cutting effect of carbon steel shall be burrless and the drawing line shall be consistent, as shown in the figure below.

 

But due to some improper operation debugging, there may be a problem, can be adjusted according to the reason.

 

1. The traction line at the bottom has a large deviation, and the notch at the bottom is wider

The possible reasons are (1) too high feed rate (2) too low laser power (3) too low air pressure (4) too high focus

Solution: (1) Reduce the feed rate, (2) increase the laser power, (3) increase the air pressure, (4) reduce the focus

2. Burrs on the underside are similar to slag, which are in a droplet form and can be easily removed

Possible causes are (1) too high feed rate (2) too low pressure (3) too high focus

Solutions (1) Reduce the feed rate (2) increase the pressure (3) reduce the focus

 

3. Metal burrs attached together can be removed as a single piece

Maybe the focus is too high

The solution is to lower the focus

 

Metal burrs on the underside are hard to remove

Possible causes are (1) too high feed rate (2) too low pressure (3) impure gas (4) too high focal point

Solution: (1) Reduce the feed rate, (2) increase the pressure, (3) use a purer gas, (4) reduce the focus

 

5. There are only burrs on one side of the sheet cut

Possible causes: (1) Incorrect nozzle alignment; (2) defective nozzle orifice

Solution: (1) Centering the nozzle; (2) changing the nozzle
